Last year between the months of October and December 2014, people were offered the opportunity to take part in a prize draw, if they recycled their old electrical items at any of North Lincolnshire Council’s household recycling centre.
True to the theme, prizes were electrical items, with the first prize being a Smart television worth around £600 won by Mr Boorman from Epworth.
The prizes were donated by REPIC, the council’s approved contractor for electrical waste. The idea behind the prize draw was to raise awareness of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment such as TV’s, washing machines, mobile phones, etc.
Councilor Nigel Sherwood thanked those supporting the campaign to increase the amount of small electrical items being recycled and urged “residents to carry on with their recycling… and to take their unwanted electrical items to their local HRC.”
